Joe Montoya’s Poetry Unplugged: Featuring Stuart Canton

Stuart Livingston Canton finally graduated from Sac State where he was an executive editor for the Calaveras Station Literary Review. His poems have appeared in local publications like The American River Review, WTF!?, and Poetry Now. Stuart won an award from The Sacramento Poetry Center for protest poetry and undergraduate award for poetry at Sac State. His studies led him to explore surrealism and ecopoetics in his poetry. He enjoys cooking almost as much as writing, and has just barely more literature than cookbooks.

a sample poem:
a moment

a not knowing
that clouds your
eyes slow and warm like
a suspension
between fluids
like breath
breath but for a moment before
it is air like
when your tongue almost
forms a word
and you taste the roof of your mouth
like punctuation
at the end
of a line and
